Zapatista: a Big Noise Film

The Zapatistas are a free-form social movement based in the Lacandon Jungle, Chiapas, Mexico, formed in opposition to the military occupation of their land in 1994. With the implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the Mexícan government began clearing villages in Chiapas to make room for beef cattle. Under the terms of NAFTA, Mexíco is obliged to provide a quota of beef to the U.S. fast food industry in exchange for humanitarian aid provided by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

In response to the approaching U.S. frontier, campesinos of Chiapas formed the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN), which, paradoxically, calls for peace. The Zapatistas have not fired a single shot in Chiapas since 1994, even when challenged at gunpoint by the Mexícan military.

I saw this film last night and after consulting with my values, I have decided that the footage is important for the world to see. Please share it with anybody who may be interested.
